Album: Tannis and the Canadiannes

My world was taken somewhat by storm in 1999 when I met Tannis Richards, from Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada who was cycling around NZ at the time. Through her, I also met a couple other crazy Canadiannes, Kyla and Candace...

Album: House Work

Many (most?) of the improvements to my house at 23 Norwich Street have been the work of my friends and loved ones. This shows some of the projects to which we've subjected the house - a "fixer upper" to be sure. Thanks especially to Tannis for providing heaps of elbow grease, vision, and motivation.

Album: Ines and Silke

Two of the loveliest people I've ever had the pleasure to meet came, based on the fact they knew a friend of mine in Germany, to stay with me in 1999. Inessita and Silli were a breath of fresh air, and a lot of fun to boot. Here're some piccies of them, and, if they see them, I hope it inspires them to come back for a visit!

Album: Brandon "Heat" Backlund's visit and journies with Tannis to Nelson to visit Sinnet and Joern.

In 1999, my good friend Brandon Backlund - ex Splunge (where he was known as "Chauncy"), from Seattle - popped down to godzone for a lookaround. Tannis and I decided, among other things, to take him up to Nelson, where we visited my Danish-turned-Kiwi friends Sinnet and Joern Frisk.

Album: Wilkin Young Tramp

Tannis and I, after trying to do the Reuteburn Track while down in Queenstown only to find it booked out, decided to take the track less travelled - here are pictures of our Wilkin-Young adventure. The Wilkin-Young are a pair of adjacent river valleys north of Lake Wanaka in the midst of the Southern Alps in the South Island of NZ.

Highlight for Album: Cass Lagoon Track
Album: Cass Lagoon Track

In late autumn 2000, Tannis and I decided to tramp the Cass Lagoon track up around Arthur's Pass in the Southern Alps. It started out as a great trip, but included a few spells of terror thanks to an unexpected snowfall, fog, lack of daylight, and the lack of long trousers... Lucky that the hut warden had walked out earlier in the day, giving us a trail of footsteps in the snow (hip deep in places!) we could follow to the Hamilton River hut.

Album: February 29th 2000 party

To celebrate my 30th birthday, and that of a few other friends, the Thomi (Thomas and Thomas) and small Peter from Germany - I put out an all points bulletin for a non-conformist Wednesday night 29th of February party! Amazingly, quite a few people turned up, including a few enthusiastic Germans... all the way from Germany!
